About Timberline Lodge

Built in 1937 as part of a Works Progress Administration project and dedicated by Franklin D. Roosevelt, Timberline Lodge sits at 6,000 feet on the south slope of Mt. Hood. Completed in just 18 months, the Lodge employed over 500 workers who used local volcanic rock, large timbers, and wrought iron to craft the building and its furnishings using traditional methods. Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1977, it is one of Oregon's top tourist destinations, attracting nearly two million visitors annually.
