Friends of Timberline is dedicated to preserve and conserve Timberline Lodge, protect its historical integrity and communicate the spirit of its builders by raising funds and coordinating community efforts to accomplish these goals.

The Friends of Timberline Annual Meeting and Auction

 Timberline Lodge  Saturday, October 7, 2017  

This year we celebrate the 80th anniversary of the completion and dedication of Timberline Lodge.  It will also be a Mt. High show featuring vintage Timberline Lodge memorabilia and souvenirs from our archives and private collections.

Friends of Timberline is always looking for interesting items for our auction.  If you have an item or service or perhaps a vacation rental that you would be willing to donate, we would be very happy to talk to you about it.  The annual auction is a very important fund raiser for FOT and this year should be a sold out event.  Please call Randi at 503 295-0827 to discuss your donation.

Timberline Lodge at 80 – A Snapshot of History

This brief pictorial reflection will include images by several northwest photographers whose pictures helped make Timberline Lodge and Mt. Hood the cultural icon that it is today and will show several photographs that may not have been previously published.

Sarah Baker Munro has been involved with Timberline since 1975 when the Friends of Timberline was organized.  As an active member of Friends of Timberline, she worked with Rachael Griffin on a catalog of construction and furnishing of the lodge and collaborated with the Forest Service on the first detailed inventory of art and furnishings since 1938. In 2009, Munro published Timberline Lodge: The History, Art, and Craft of an American Icon through Timber Press. In 2016, Munro produced Timberline Lodge, published by Arcadia Publishing in its Images of America series. Munro has also curated exhibits relating to Timberline and New Deal art in Oregon and participated in a symposium on Oregon’s New Deal. She currently serves as the director of the Hoover-Minthorn House Museum, boyhood home of Herbert Hoover, in Newberg.

Timberline Labor Day Mountain Music Festival

Monday, September 4, 2017

The festival in the lodge’s historic outdoor amphitheater is one of Timberline’s ways of giving back to the community and celebrating the wonderful mountain setting. This year’s lineup promises powerful performances from some of Americana music’s leading  contemporary artists. Admission is free to the  Enjoy Timberline’s food and beverages and bring an instrument to join in the jams led by the Taborgrass Players on the back “Pickin’ Patio.”

Friends of Timberline Work Day at the Lodge

 This is always a great event and we get the opportunity for “hands on” work at the Lodge.  RLK and Company provides lunch for all the volunteers.  We will be doing maintenance on the Amphitheater and Reflecting Ponds, as well as other small projects.   To register e-mail

For almost 70 years Warren Miller Entertainment has produced the world’s most renowned feature-length ski and snowboard films.   Mr. Miller has had multi decade personal relationship with Timberline Lodge and Friends of Timberline including being our guest speaker at a past Annual Meeting Dinner.   

As part of our yearlong acknowledgement of Timberline’s 80th year, FOT is excited to partner with the WME to present “Warren Miller Wednesdays”  This is a fundraiser for FOT and the concept is simple: gather with fellow outdoor enthusiasts on a series of Wednesday nights to share a few laughs and relive a few Timberline stories over food and drink while watching the “best of” WME’s most popular films from the past.  Pretty easy way to support FOT’s work at Timberline.  

We hope you will save a Wednesday or two and make plans to meet friends for a fun evening and help Friends of Timberline at the same time.
